F1 Fever: F1's new world champion?

Sure, he made a sensation for being the first rookie to ever challenge for the driver's world championship in his first year...

Yeah, Lewis Hamilton is F1's new world champion everyone.

But somehow I am not impressed that it turned out that way.

Why, you ask?

Well, last year when he first made his debut, I had also fallen for a talented rookie.

Not now, because ever since last year ended and the new 2008 season began, he also changed from an innocent rookie to an arrogant one in no time. He started to drive aggressively and got on the nerve of other drivers with his aggressive overtaking maneuvers. He also had a fight with Alonso last year remember, and sure enough he looked the innocent one there. This year we've got a glimpse of the true Hamilton. He'd go through anything for his personal gains. McLaren didn't win the constructors world championship last year...nor this year.

Apart from that he also made a lot of mistakes this year. My personal favourite was when he slammed Raikkonen at the pit lane exit and Raikkonen sarcastically pointed to him the red light shown at the exit. What a scene. Must be embarassing for a top seed rookie.

I stayed up all night to watch the race and at least I'd say it was definitely worth it! The last few laps were the most dramatic 3 minutes in F1 history which decided the drivers world champion. I was jumping up and down thinking Massa had already won when Sebastian Vettel overtook Hamilton on the second last lap with the help of Robert Kubica and I swear they are both my new heroes in F1 until Timo Glock ruined everything.

But this also proves what I said in my earlier post, that Hamilton is choker. He ran wide in the midst of the Kubica-Vettel overtaking all by himself, and in the last 2 laps when it mattered. He's a choker alright. Timo Glock saved his day.

Even though it was sad news that Massa didnt win the world championship in front of his home crowd, He did bring home Ferrari its 16th World title and its 8th in 10 years. This just continues to prove that Ferrari (which is this blog is all about) is still the most successful team in F1 for years if not decades to come. Massa was full of mixed emotions when he brought home the car into the pitlane. He wept before climbing out of the car, he wept on stage but touched the hearts of the more than 70,000 strong Brazilians present and he was also proud to have a perfect race where he could do no more perfectly. He brought home Ferrari its world title this year.

I truly believe Massa is the worthier champion even if its just for this year because he has proved that he is capable and he also has the most number of wins this year compared to Hamilton. And it takes courage to acknowledge defeat, in front of his home crowd the way he did without breaking down. He is my true F1 hero and my heart goes out to him.

Anyway, I was also delighted seeing Hamiltons success being marred by live footage of him trying hardly to stick back his steering wheel into his car as a Honda in front of him caught fire with all the reporters around him. Bizzare~

Vertu Ferrari Phone: You just won't be able to afford it!

Nokia’s luxurious Vertu series of mobile phones has added another three units to its range of Ascent high-end mobile phones, all themed around a Ferrari supercar. Previously, Nokia released a Vertu range designed to celebrate the classic race tracks of the world by featuring a small map of an individual track on the phone’s outer casing.

This time the phone's inspiration comes from modern Ferrari's, and only the Vertu Ascent ‘Ti’ model will be given the custom treatment. The Ferrari Ascent Ti range will be available in three colours, Nero (Black), Rosso (Red) and Giallo (Yellow), the three colors that usually adorn Ferrari models.

As with all Vertu's a number of high-quality materials are used, including titanium for the exterior of the phone and sapphire for the mobile screen. According to Vertu, the battery cover at the rear has been altered from the standard Ascent Ti to more closely resemble the hood of a Ferrari model. In a side by side comparison of the two, a small bonnet bulge can be seen on the Ferrari themed phone, which is also accompanied by a 3D prancing horse emblem.

Additionally, the leather upper of the phone no longer bears the Vertu logo, but rather the letters spelling Ferrari in the company's unique typeface. Other Ferrari themed features include Ferrari engine sounds for the ringtones, and Ferrari themed wallpapers.

While the standard Ascent Ti model will set you back around $6,600, Vertu also sell a version of the phone that lists at close to $300,000. Expect the limited-edition Ferrari themed Ascent Ti to command a hefty premium over the standard $6,600 model.

F1 Fever: Massa On Pole!

Qualifying yesterday was phenomenal! The Grandstand ROARED! to life every time Massa & Raikkonen crossed the line on top of the list...

The same can't be said when the silver bullets of McLaren did that... all was Silent~ in the grandstand.

The Brazilians want to see their man to be crowned world champion this year. They want to see Felipe Massa holding the Driver's Championship Trophy.

Despite the odds of being 7 critical points down on the sheets, Felipe managed to secure a pole position while Lewis Hamilton will be in fourth position, needing to finish 5th with Felipe winning the race to secure his title.

You know what, I bet he's gonna choke again this time around just like last year.

Raceday starts at 12 midnight tonight and so to all hardcore F1 fans out there... It is obligatory, compulsory, required for you to STAY UP and watch the final duel because who knows you would probably never going to see any race like it in your entire life and you would have the honour to say that you watched it live...maybe with an exam paper the next day just like I do!

Oh I will stay up! and I'll be rooting for Felipe Massa all the way.

Who will you root for?
